I still remember buying my first DV camera to shoot skateboarding videos with my friends…
Over 20 years, a degree in digital film and animation, over 300 projects as well as several self-built server rooms, edit and grading suites later, the same magic I felt then still exists today.
How did that happen?
I started doing a lot of camera, editing and graphic design work before gently being pushed into the world of production, post production and VFX during my studies at the SAE Institute in Leipzig.
A film workshop took me to Los Angeles in 2007 – giving me the perfect opportunity to gather real, hand-on experience in VFX production. During my time at New Deal Studios I worked on such projects as THE DARK KNIGHT and IRON MAN.
Having swapped blue skies and palm trees for grey Berlin winter and bratwurst, I finished my studies by writing my thesis on the German film funding system in 2010. During this period I continued to work on a number of projects, ever increasingly entering the world of film and post production.
From 2011 to 2014 I served as Post Production Supervisor and VFX Producer for such leading Berlin post production houses as CineChromatix, CinePostproduction and The Post Republic, working on such great projects as ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE by director Jim Jarmush and THE CONGRESS by Ari Folman.
Since then I have worked as a freelance for clients such as BWGTBLD GmbH, bEPIC, IT’S US PLUS, congaz Creative Media Production, Rekorder Film and Interaction, omstudios, RISE Visual Effects or Cat and Weasel Films.
